Who We Are

Mended Hearts, a national nonprofit organization, has been offering the gift of hope to heart disease patients, their families and caregivers for more than 60 years.  There are 300 chapters nationwide and total membership is over 20,000.

Mended Hearts began in 1951 when Dr. Maya Gray, Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Brigham Hospital in Boston, saw a need for a support group to help his patients after they had undergone heart surgery.  The Greater Rochester Chapter 50 was established in 1966.

Mended Hearts brings together patients, spouses, family, and medical professionals to form a network of caring individuals.
