January Meeting
When: Monday, January 16, 2012, 3:00PM (Please note that this is an afternoon meeting.)
Subject: “Petting an Animal is Good for Your
Heart! Pet Assisted Therapy: What is it and how does it work?”
Program will be followed by a hands-on therapy dog session for all
participants with Peggy Weston Byrd and "Willie." Peggy and Willie, a
50-pound Standard Schnauzer, have been visiting hospitals, nursing homes,
assisted living centers, dementia units, group homes for developmentally
disabled, and senior and adult day care centers for more than four years.
Location: The meeting will be held at the Jewish
Community Center, Senior Lounge, 1200 Edgewood Av, Rochester, NY 14618.
February Meeting
When: Monday, February 20, 2012, 7:15PM
Subject: Gerald Gacioch, MD, will speak about “Frequently
Asked Questions for a Cardiologist.” Dr. Gacioch is Chief of
Cardiology at Rochester General Hospital. He was trained at Johns Hopkins
University School of Medicine and also earned a master’s degree in medical
management at Carnegie Mellon University. He was an internal medicine
resident at Johns Hopkins Hospital prior to completing two fellowships at
the University of Michigan.
